Which American teams Qualified for the Copenhagen CS2 Major?

With the recent conclusion of the American RMRs for the CS2 Copenhagen 2024 major, we now know all the teams qualified to compete in the first major of the new game! With 16 teams competing for only 5 available spots, many fan-favorite organizations and players sadly did not qualify for the major. It was also evident that South American organizations performed much better than their North American counterparts during the American RMRs. This article will overview the teams' placements during this RMR and which teams qualified and missed the Copenghagn 2024 major.

3-0 Qualified American RMR Teams

Two of Brazil's most famous organizations both dominated the American RMRs to qualify 3-0 for the Copenhagen 2024 major. FURIA Esports defeated Nouns Esports on Inferno, Team Liquid on Mirage, and Complexity 2-1 in round 3. Imperial Esports defeated NRG on Overpass, M80 on Anubis, and paiN Gaming 2-0 in round 3.

3-1 Qualified American RMR Teams

Legacy and paiN Gaming hail from Brazil and qualified 3-1 for the Copenhagen major. In round 1, paiN Gaming beat Legacy on Overpass; in round two, they defeated the RED Canids on Overpass; in round three, they lost 0-2 to Imperial Esports; and lastly took down ODDIK 2-0 in round 4. Legacy lost to paiN Gaming, beat Nouns 2-1, defeated MIBR 2-0, and clutched out their qualifications by beating M80 2-1 in round 4.

Team Complexity qualified as the only United States team to make it to CS2's first major. During the American RMRs, they defeated Elevate on Ancient, took down BOSS on Ancient, lost to FURIA Esports 1-2 in round 3, and defeated Team Liquid 2-1 in round 4.

2-2 Eliminated American RMR Teams

USA organization M80 was sadly eliminated 2-1 by Legacy in round 4 and did not qualify for the major. Fan favorite Team Liquid barely lost round 4 to Complexity 1-2 in an upset defeat of the god roaster featuring the likes of CadiaN and Twistzz. Brazilian team OODIK lost to paiN Gaming 0-2 in round four, which eliminated them from the chance of attending the first Counter-Strike 2 major.

Many players and fans voiced their disappointment in the seeding of the American RMRs and only having 5 qualifying spots for the major, with many feeling that great organizations could have qualified if they were allowed to play out till their third loss like was present in the European RMRs.

1-2 Eliminated American RMR Teams

Sadly, the teams that lost the American RMRs 1-2 include RED Canids, BOSS, MIBR, and Wildcard Gaming. With the exclusion of a third opportunity like the European RMR circuit had, all of these teams only had to lose twice to be knocked out of the tournament.

0-2 Eliminated American RMR Teams

With a disappointing short performance, the following teams were knocked out after losing 0-2, Nouns Esports, Elevate, NRG, and BESTIA. NRG. Initially, NRG did not even qualify for the American RMR; however, Rocket, which had the spot, was disqualified for having a player caught cheating.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the culmination of the American RMRs for the CS2 Copenhagen 2024 major showcased intense competition and revealed the roster of teams set to participate in the inaugural event. The dominance of Brazilian powerhouses FURIA Esports and Imperial Esports, securing 3-0 qualifications, highlighted the South American region's prowess. Legacy, paiN Gaming, and Team Complexity also secured their spots through hard-fought 3-1 victories, each overcoming unique challenges. However, the limitations of the qualifying spots stirred disappointment among players and fans, with notable organizations like Team Liquid and MIBR falling short. The absence of a third opportunity, as seen in the European RMRs, intensified the stakes and underscored the unforgiving nature of the competition. Despite the setbacks, the stage is now set for an exhilarating CS2 Copenhagen 2024 major, promising a spectacle of skill and determination from the qualified teams.
